Petrol (ULP 95)

According to SAPIA (South African Petroleum Industry Association), the petrol price in South Africa is linked to the price of crude oil in international markets and is quoted in US dollars (US$) per barrel. International petrol prices are essentially driven by supply and demand for the product in a particular market.

Petrol is a transparent, petroleum-derived flammable liquid that is used primarily as a fuel in most spark-ignited internal combustion engines. It consists mostly of organic compounds obtained by the fractional distillation of petroleum, enhanced with a variety of additives.

On average, a 160-litre barrel of crude oil can yield up to about 72 liters of petrol after processing in an oil refinery, depending on the crude oil assay and on what other refined products are also extracted.

Diesel 50PPM

Diesel or diesel fuel in general is any fuel used in diesel engines. The most common is a specific fractional distillate of petroleum fuel oil, but alternatives that are not derived from petroleum, such as biodiesel, biomass to liquid (BTL) or gas to liquid (GTL) diesel, are increasingly being developed and adopted.

To distinguish these types, petroleum-derived diesel is increasingly called Petro-diesel. Ultra-low sulphur diesel (ULSD) is a term used to describe a standard for defining diesel fuel with substantially lowered sulphur contents.

Petroleum diesel, or petro-diesel, is produced from petroleum and is a hydrocarbon mixture, obtained in the fractional distillation of crude oil between 200 oc and 350 oc at atmospheric pressure.

Illuminating Paraffin (IP)

Illuminating Paraffin is a popular choice of energy due to its inexpensive nature. It is used by millions of people for domestic purposes, such as cooking and heating.

Paraffin also plays a pivotal role in industrial environments. As one of the cheapest sources of energy, Paraffin is used by millions of people in South Africa as well as Botswana, Namibia, Mozambique, Lesotho, and Swaziland.

Coal

Coal is primarily used as fuel to generate electric power. In coal-fired power plants, bituminous coal, sub-bituminous coal, or lignite is burned.

The heat produced by the combustion of the coal is used to convert water into high-pressure steam, which drives a turbine, which produces electricity.
